I teamed up with Roman Mars and the amazing storytellers at 99% Invisible to create a podcast that would shine a light on Google's Next Billion Users initiative. We wanted to transport listeners to emerging markets and share captivating stories of real people. Our goal was to capture the essence of Google's brand values while showcasing the unique design challenges we face in these exciting new territories. Throughout this collaboration, I acted as a bridge between internal stakeholders and the 99% Invisible team, ensuring our stories were not only captivating for potential partners but also effectively communicated the heart of Google's mission.
When the chance to collaborate with Roman Mars and the 99% Invisible team came up, I knew we could create something special. I dove into their storytelling approach, ensuring our collaboration would capture the hearts of listeners while staying true to Google's mission to reach the Next Billion Users.
I rallied support across Google, bringing leadership, PR, marketing, and UX teams together to share the podcast vision. Navigating diverse perspectives was key to keeping everyone focused on the core user stories and Google's long-term goals.
I spearheaded the creation of a detailed Product Requirement Document and Statement of Work outlining our goals: showcasing the Next Billion Users initiative, highlighting Google's design challenges, and leveraging 99% Invisible's storytelling magic. This document served as our guiding star, keeping everyone aligned.
Together with the 99% Invisible team, we held weekly meetings for knowledge sharing, detailing the captivating stories we'd tell, the emotions we'd evoke, and how it all connected to Google's mission. This ensured the podcast was both engaging and aligned with NBU's brand strategy.
As the podcast took shape, we entered the review and handoff phase. Balancing internal feedback with the creative vision of 99% Invisible required finesse. Despite some late-stage challenges, open communication led to a successful handoff, leaving the podcast ready for launch. I learned the delicate art of fostering creativity within a strategic framework, especially when collaborating with renowned partners.
